	In addition to the other esponses you have recieved:  Eterm is a
sleeker *xterm which will also provide pixmap support.  The trick here is
to have a matching pixmap in this Eterm window.  Eterm will also catch
console messages via a -C switch, therefore if you startx with a line
similar to `startx >/dev/console 2>&1`, console messages will be caught by
the Eterm.  Any app which runs under AS and ouputs to the console, will be
echoed here.  
	To actively watch your log file, simply use a script such as `sh
-c "tail -fq $FILES"` where FILES is the logs you wish to monitor.  You
will need to run this as root, the methodology to achieve this is an
excercise for the reader.

! How do I make an xterm with a cool background?

	Get rxvt, Eterm or use xiterm (pixmap is not on by default -
this is shipped with AS); Freshmeat is a good place to find everything.
