I'm a person that went to 1.4 'cause I thought it would provide a

something that *I* thought was a bug. It was planned. So, since I had
1.4 installed and everything, I tried to stick with it. It took me 2
weeks to configure it to something close to the way my 1.0 was setup.
Well, I moved my linux drive to another machine, and found an unused
partition that I was wondering about. Without thinking, I mounted it
as /home, and formatted it. G'bai, home directory with configuration
files.
So, I still had the gzips for 1.0 and 1.4 hanging around. I compiled
and installed 1.0, and had it completely configured the way I had it
before in less than a day. It helps to partition off the file in
discrete segments, and include something near unique in the header
before that section. Then, you just use Emacs (or vi, that'll work
too..) to find that section, and go to it. Less space than many
directories. No searching around for what you think *must* be in that
other file.
Personally, I think that 1.>0 should be set up to take either the
directory, or the one file. Make life much easier.
