This is, of course, off-topic: I invite respondents to address me
personally, but not through the list.  That said, I might point out that
the above is no response to the freedom implicit in Free software, and in
any case, Carnegie's mnotives (by his own admission) was simple social
control.  (He had a fairly patrician understanding of what was "suitable"
for public libraries, for instance.)

But anyway, it was just a throw-away remark.
