Yep.  Didn't read the docs, did you?

_Always_ remo ve your old ~/G/L/A file.  This is not an optional step.
If you rename it, then you can use the old structure as the basis for your
new customizations.  But because things have been developing rapidly, the
configuration files have subtle changes introduced between versions.  Many
of your old files will work "out of the box", but some will not.
