apps dying in wharf

I am having a curious problem with a couple of wharf-dockable apps. I
am running several apps, asfsm, wmmon, and wmifs on a machine called
joe, and sending them via ssh back to my window manager. They work
fine for a while, then some of them will randomly die, and I get this
message in my .xsession-error log on the machine running AS, "Local:
Corrupted check bytes on input.".

The line I am using to run them in wharf is: "*Wharf wmifs -
MaxSwallow "/usr/local/bin/wmifs" /usr/bin/ssh joe
/usr/local/bin/wmifs -i eth0 &

The funny thing is that if I just ssh over to joe, and then fire off
wmifs so it displays back to AS, it will run forever just fine. It
seems that putting it in the wharf kills it after some amount of
time. I have no idea what is causing this.

Any ideas?
