Emacs C-v breaks under RedHat 5.2 AS

Greetings --

I installed Red Hat Linux 5.2, which comes with
AfterStep. You can switch to it when you want to
quit fvwm, for example.

Everything looks and feels just great, except a
strange quirk occurs in Emacs. C-v, universally
used for PgDn, stops working. (Since it's a PC,
the separate PgDn key still can be used.) It's
very annoying if you usually work on Unix without
PgDn and/or just got used to C-v/M-v for page
scrolling in Emacs.

I'm pretty sure the problem is caused by some AS
config since C-v works under other window
managers, e.g. lesstif, when you switch back into
one of them from the Quit point in the root AS
menu.

Question: looks like either global or
Emacs-specific behavior of C-v is altered
somewhere in AS config. Where can it be? Also,
since it's RH 5.2 issue, and RH 5.2 is the most
widely used Linux distribution, and Emacs is the
most widespread Unix editor/IDE, I'd like to
forward any and all solutions to Red Hat.

Cheers and regards,
