Focus Troubles in AS 1.8

First of all, is there any way to get AS 1.8 to support sloppy focus
with click to raise? Right now I use sloppy focus with auto raise set to
500, but it just isn't the same. Am I the only one who thinks this is a
very logical way for a window manager to work? I don't mean click the
title bar either, I want to be able to click anywhere in the window
(click pass through is nice, too).

Also, I think this is a bug concerning sloppy focus and auto raise, but
I'm not sure.
When you have a window partially covered and you focus it, but move the
mouse on to the root window before it raises, the window won't raise the
next time you move the mouse over it unless you focus another window
first. Is this a bug, setting, or feature or what?

One last thing, I like smart placement, but it always covers the winlist
for me, is there a way to prevent this?

Sorry for the long, possibly stupid, questions, I am somewhat new to
AfterStep.
