Hi!

You put the images into the directory 
~/GNUstep/Library/AfterStep/?desktop?/?backgrounds?
or something like that ( I do not have it handy here)
and then they will be available from the main
AfterStep menu -> Desktop->Backgeround or something
to that effect.
