i agree that G/L/A's too much, but .afterstep would add to the .mess.
i'm personally fond of ~/share/afterstep, but as long as it's
configurable, who cares?

if one really wants to be a pedant, the G/L/A directory contains both
configuration files an arch-independent data files, so it should be
split between ~/etc/afterstep and ~/share/afterstep, or rather provide
two configuration options that might or might not end up pointing to the
same directory.
