[As-users] Xmms - afterstep problem

Dear all,

I run the CVS version of Afterstep from about four weeks ago. This
has solved the long lasting Java1.5 problems that I had had before.
I notice, however, from time to time a strange behaviour:

When I run xmms to play some music it happens usually after a while
(may be an hour, but I have not measured) that afterstep starts to
increase the CPU load. It goes quickly to something close to 100%
and becomes, of course, much less responsive then.

It helps to stop the music playing in xmms and it also helps for
a while to "Restart" afterstep. I cannot assign any particular
condition to when this problem happens.

I have some suspecion that afterstep might try to use the sound
device for some unknown reason. I do not load the Audio module
in my autoexec, but I had also sometimes other strange cases
where the audio device was suddenly in use whithout an obvious reason.
I use esd, if this matters. Could it be the case that afterstep
somehow tries to access the audio device without me telling it
to do so? What else could explain the increased CPU load?

Best wishes
		Volker
